Before You Start
These are the six that come up most, so for anything else, just send us an email before you buy.
Youth coaches, academy staff and anyone working with developing players, from grassroots up to professional academies. The frameworks also apply across age groups, from the foundation phase to the oldest youth teams.
FCI is mainly about the mental and personal side of coaching: who the player is, why he does what he does, and how you reach him. In other words, it is not a tactics course or a session library.
Level 1 is about learning to see a player: structured observation instead of a verdict. Then Level 2 is about guiding one player, from the development plan to the conversation, the training week and matchday. Finally, Level 3 is about leading the group: culture, standards and holding a squad through a season.
No, because FCI is coach development, not a qualification. You receive an FCI certificate of completion for each level you finish, but it is not a licence or badge issued by UEFA, FIFA, the KNVB, US Soccer or any other governing body.
A licence is your qualification. FCI is what you do afterwards to keep getting better at the job.
Yes, you receive an FCI certificate of completion for each level you finish, as soon as you have worked through its lessons and assessments. Many coaches then add it to their coaching CV or club profile.
It confirms that you completed an FCI course. However, it is not a licence, badge or diploma, as set out above.
No. Each level stands on its own, so coaches sometimes start with whichever is closest to their situation. The pathway is built to build on itself though, so most get the most out of it by working through Level 1, 2 and 3 in order.
Twelve months from the date of purchase, for each course or for the full pathway. There is no live teaching, no timetable and no deadlines, so you can take a level in a few weeks or spread it across a season. In addition, lessons are short enough to fit around a training week.
